Milwaukee Common Council, 6th Aldermanic District, Primary Election
HRL endorses Una Van Duvall
In the words of Una Van Duvall:
"I think the district can work for all of its people. And I'm
willing to work for them." Milwaukee Journal (January 4, 2007)
"I
won't just represent women, I won't just represent developers, I won't just represent African Americans, I will represent
all people who want to live and grow in the 6th District. Look at the people around me."
Una Van Duvall brings a wealth of community and economic development experience to her candidacy for Milwaukee's
6th aldermanic seat. She is a former deputy director of the Northwest Side Community Development Corporation and
former staff assistant to the commissioner of the Department of City Development. She has expressed support
for LGBT civil rights and believes everyone was created equal. She says that as
a descendent of a freed slave, she understands what is at stake if we allow discrimination of select groups of people
to continue. As a Milwaukee City Council Member she will work to provide funding to programs to prevent
discrimination and help the LGBT community continue our contributions to the citizens of Milwaukee.
