During our affiliation with Center Advocates, Inc., HRL-PAC (Center Advocates PAC) had monumental successes.  Between spring of 2007 and spring of 2009 both organizations did electoral work to ensure pro-LGBT candidates were elected on a state and local level.

HRL-PAC has for the past 12 yrs worked directly with the LGBT Community to raise money to elect public officials who understand the issues of LGBT equality in Wisconsin and will continue to do this mission.  HRL-PAC is able to work with both statewide LGBT organizations and focus directly on electing public officials who are allies to LGBT people and our families.

2008 Election Accomplishments
What an incredible experience this Election cycle has been.  Center Advocates has been tirelessly working to ensure that equal rights and protections for LGBT people and families continue be a priority in every election cycle.

Center Advocates - along with Center Advocates PAC - is pleased to have been fundamentally involved in races all across Wisconsin.  Together we have kept a fair minded majority in the Senate and have flipped the Assembly toward equality and fairness.

This is important because it raises hopes for passage of pro-LGBT legislation.  Center Advocates has been working to shift control of the state Assembly so legislation related to repealing the marriage amendment and transgender discrimination could potentially pass the Legislature in 2009.

Center Advocates PAC endorsed 67 candidates in the Senate and Assembly with a win percentage of 71%.  Because of supporters like you we have funneled almost $30,000 of LGBT monies directly into state races

Thanks to your support Center Advocates was able to reach across the State of Wisconsin to Eau Claire in Assembly District 68 and help elect Kristen Dexter, a progressive democrat to a seat previously held by an incumbent republican.

In addition, our Center Advocates Fall Field Program contributed $13,000 to support our voter education and voter contact in the 8th Senate and the 22nd State Assembly.  For the past several months over 50 volunteers have worked with Center Advocates to perform voter education through door-to-door canvassing and phone banking.  Our efforts resulted in reaching over 13,247 voters through mail, phones and doors.

Though we were unsuccessful in getting fair-minded 8th Senate district candidate Sheldon Wasserman to a victory, through our efforts we helped bring him closer than any other candidate has to defeating Sen. Alberta Darling - who has continued to vote against equality and fairness.  To see a full list of fair-minded candidates Center Advocates endorsed who won on November 4th go to CenterAdvocatesPAC.org

Center Advocates pledges to continue to perform the important work needed to advance the basic principles of equality and fairness for all Wisconsin residents.  We continue to need your support to change the landscape in Wisconsin.

Thank you for your support and for your commitment to advancing our important cause.

Sincerely,

Center Advocates, Inc. & Center Advocates PAC

2006 & 2007 Accomplishments Report

Not only did the PAC and the Center Advocates work against the Marriage Ban Amendment in 2006 –

s    But, in 2006, the PAC targeted 15 Races for financial support across the State – the PAC targeted the Governor’s Race, Attorney General, (4) State Senate & (6) Assembly Races, and the Milwaukee County Races of Circuit Court, DA & Sheriff

s    The PAC Endorsed 49 Candidates for State, County & Local Governments

s    Of those 49 - 42 PAC Endorsed Candidates Won – For you political junkies that's an 86% win rate

s    94% of our budget was used to elect pro-LGBT candidates through direct dispersements to candidates or voter programs

s    The PAC held a extremely successful fundraiser - raised $7000 for State Senator Jim Sullivan (District 5) who defeated the anti-gay, anti-woman, right-wing State Senator Tom Reynolds

s    The PAC coordinated with several statewide political and advocacy groups to focus resources to turn WI State Senate to majority of pro-LGBT legislators

s    In 2007 the PAC continued into Spring Elections; Endorsing candidates in the WI Supreme Court, Milwaukee County Judge – electing Judge Bill Pocan first out gay judge in WI; MPS School Board Races; and the Special Election for 6th District Milwaukee Alderman.

s    Also, in the Spring of 2007 the PAC, in order to increase our effectiveness affiliated with Center Advocates, Inc.....going from an all volunteer group to a staffed organization and increasing our clout through out the region and statewide.

s    The 2007 Garden Party for Equality was a success and raised the unprecedented amount of $21,000 to work toward the election of public officials who will support LGBT equality across Wisconsin.

s    Continuing into the Fall 2007, the PAC supported financially the re-election campaigns of WI Supreme Court Justice Louis Butler and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. The PAC also supported Senator Lena Taylor in her candidacy for Milwaukee County Executive - raising $11,000.

Work like this can only be done with your support. When you give $25, $100, $500, $1000 or more to the PAC, we do the work of educating candidates about LGBT issues and supporting candidates who will publicly protect and work towards LGBT equality.

With your continued support and donations we will continue to work toward LGBT equality in Wisconsin.  So please give today to continue the WORK for EQUALITY!
