Rebecca Dallet - Milwaukee Circuit Court Branch 40

Rebecca Dallet has more than 10 years experience as a state and federal prosecutor and prosecuted sexual predators, serial rapists and pedophiles. Dallet is the only candidate in this race with experience making judicial decisions in a wide variety of civil, criminal and children’s court cases.

“I believe in a society where everyone is treated equally and with respect, and I do not feel that we’ve reached that point yet.  A member of the LGBT community or any resident of Milwaukee who finds themselves in Milwaukee County Circuit Court will want a judge who will treat them with respect and equality.  I can be counted upon to protect the civil and human rights of any person appearing before me for any reason, and to prevent discrimination in my courtroom based upon sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Dallet is “the only candidate with significant civil law experience and has been practicing law for more than 13 years. She worked as a prosecutor for more than a decade.  She currently oversees the ten full-time Judicial Court Commissioners, and is the first woman to be selected as Administrative Court Commissioner in Milwaukee County history.

Sen. Lena TaylorMilwaukee County Executive

“After five years of the current County Executive Administration, Milwaukee County tax payers are in an unwarranted position. Two thirds of Milwaukee County residents believe that County Government is on the wrong track.  With inexcusable cuts to our court system, detrimental eliminations to public transportation that make it difficult for our children to get to school and parents to get to work, along with closing parks that people from all walks of life depend on for recreation, we as Milwaukee county residents deserve better.” (Taylor, 2008)

Senator Taylor has been a long time advocate and supporter of the LGBT community.  Center Advocates PAC was one of the major groups to raise monies for Senator Taylor before the critical filing deadline of December 31st.  She was able to file a $140,000 report with the LGBT community’s support.

Sup. Marina Dimitrijevic – County Supervisor District 4

Milwaukee County Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic proudly serves Milwaukee's South Side and Bay View Neighborhoods. She has a proven record of honest, active representation in Milwaukee County's 4th District.

Supervisor Dimitrijevic supports and has been working with Center Advocates to obtain Domestic Partnership Benefits for Milwaukee County employees.  I have worked with the Center Advocates on many issues including the adoption of Domestic Partnership Benefits in Milwaukee County. When I am re-elected in April, this will be on my agenda for 2008.”

Marina has been a long time ally. Concerning hate crimes and violence against LGBT people she states, “I believe that hate crimes are the most offensive to our society and community and should be punished accordingly.  I have a great relationship with our District Attorney John Chisholm and will continue to work to see that we enforce these horrible crimes with enhancers, longer and stricter jail time, we must make an example of these offenders and also do the work on the front end to educate and prevent these crimes from happening.….It begins with education, policy changes, resources, and then enforcement/implementation.”

Chris Larson – Milwaukee County Supervisor District 14

“I believe that Milwaukee County has the best park system in the nation but it has gone downhill in recent years.  I will work to

ensure we have a fully funded park system we can be proud of again.

“I want to make sure that public transit is promoted and remains affordable to all those who use it.  The recent increase from

$1.25 to $2.00 per way punishes those who use the system and does nothing to encourage use by those considering using it.

“When elected, I will be an outspoken advocate for domestic partner benefits and will work with fellow levelheaded supervisors to make those rights a reality for Milwaukee County.”

Sup. John Weishan, Jr. – Milwaukee County Supervisor District 16

Supervisor Weishan supports and would vote for Domestic Partner Benefits for Milwaukee County Employees.

As County Supervisor, Weishan states that he has spoken out against “violence in our community at all levels and I have no tolerance for discrimination.”

“I have been a proven leader on the Milwaukee County Board.  A leader that does not shy away from difficult issues.  Success in combating the violence and bigotry of the rightwing conservative forces in our community necessitates supporting a leader who has the courage and political abilities to push forward a progressive community agenda.  I have the skills necessary to be successful.”

“I believe that there will be an opportunities in 2008 and 2009 to move Milwaukee County forward on many issues, everything from taxes, economic development to community and race relations.  I welcome the support of any group or individuals that want to see a progressive agenda become reality in Milwaukee County.”

Patrick Flaherty – 3rd Aldermanic District

“During the more than fourteen years that I've been a 3rd District homeowner, I've led efforts at the city and state level to defend our quality of life and improve city services.

As a nonprofit manager and progressive leader, I have delivered results: winning policy changes;

overseeing multi-million dollar budgets; building public-private partnerships; and organizing our community to obtain much-needed services. I have learned that government can make a difference in people's lives - and how frustrating it can be when government responds too slowly.”
