“Our country and state should recognize the equality of all people and provide the same rights and enforce the same responsibilities for all people. It is evident that anti-gay rhetoric remains the only "socially acceptable" bigotry. And I will not tolerate this. My motivation to enter the race was largely triggered by the passage of the "anti-same-sex" amendment. As the mother of three children, one of whom is gay.  This became deeply personal for me. I want all my children, indeed - all people, to have the same rights.  As a mother, I can do no less.”

"When Alberta first ran she pretended to be something she is not, a socially moderate and fiscally responsible leader. Her record over the years has drifted further and further from that ideal.  She now follows a hard right-wing Republican agenda. This is the same agenda that ignores real issues while making gay marriage extra illegal and banning stem cell research and the life saving hope it may offer."
